The Market has just the answer when you want to pick up dinner. Asian, Mexican and American cooks prepare your dinner on the spot. Part of the fun is watching them cook. They move fast, and they’ve honed every movement for efficiency. And you can see from their faces they have fun cooking for us.
They’ll pack it for you to take home, or you can picnic at the Market. This year, we’ve added an official eating area with tables and chairs. The Market also has a tub fullĀ of large towels you can use to spread out on the grass for your picnic.
EJs Catering
EJs Catering is new to the Market this year. EJ, Eric John, has worked in the food industry for 20 years. You might even recognize him because he worked six years at PCC in Issaquah, where he cooked and developed recipes. As he recalls, “It was a lot of fun making omelettes for all the customrs in Issaquah on Sunday mornings.”
Eric had a remarkably lucky day last November. He bought a $5 lottery ticket and actually won–enough to turn to his wife and say, “This is our chance to start a food business.” We’re delighted EricĀ and his wife chose to come to our Market as part of their initial business venture.
They offer a delectable pulled pork sandwich. When you bite into it, you want to know how they could have created something so good. Well, the answer includes 6-7 hours of slow, loving cooking.
Besides their signature pork sandwich, EJs usually offers another meat dish, often chicken, along with a soup of the day and a variety of salads. Since Eric created recipes at PCC, his soups and salads are not the ordinary predictable kind. The watermelon gazpacho was a hit, and the salads, some with wild rice or quinoa, are substantial.
If you’re not sure what to select, EJ and his crew provide generous samples of all their good food.
