Guerrero Farm’s Salsa and Guacamole

by Loreen on August 29, 2010

Each week, Jesus Guerrero of Guerrero Farm, a certified organic farm in Quincy, brings to our Market an ice chest filled with containers of creamy guacamole, green tomatillo salsa, and a chunky red tomato salsa.

All of this has been lovingly made by Jesus’s wife, Analilia. Busy raising her children, Analilia decided to do something to participate in the family farm business. Luckily for us, she settled on salsa and guacamole.

I like to give salsas the ingredients test. Way too many salsas have long lists of substances unrecognizable as food. Not the Guerrero’s products. They use the organic produce they grow as much as possible and don’t include any of those polysyllabic ingredients we find so often on labels. The red Salsa Guerrero has only six ingredients – tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro and salt – that’s it!

Next week, Jesus goes back to his teaching job in Moses Lake, while his father, who owns the farm, will take his spot at our Market booth. He too will bring the chest of salsa and guacamole to satisfy all the Sammamish Market shoppers who have figured out something very fresh-tasting and satisfying is in that chest.

The Guerreros also sell stone fruit – peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries – and apples.
